Medical Software for EPOC

Psion medical homepage

EPOC is an operating system and application environment for mobile handheld devices developed by Symbian.  It is most commonly seen in the Psion computers, but is also being adopted by mobile phone manufacturers.  EPOC comes bundled with a large range useful software applications, including a database program, wordprocessor, spreadsheet, email, web-browsing, diary, alarm clock, jotter pad, calculator, and more.  It also includes connectivity software for backup and synchronization with your PC.

Palmtops running the Symbian EPOC operating system, such as the Psion Series 5, 5mx, 7, Revo, Revo Plus, Ericsson MC218, Oregon Osaris, Geofox One, & netBook are attracting some of the best medical software available on any platform.  Here is a prime selection of programs and resources which you may find useful in your clinical practice.
All files are compressed using the Zip format. To decompress them using Windows 95/98/Millennium, download WINZIP. To decompress the files on your EPOC machine download RMRZip

The original EPOC Patient Tracking Program.  Keep track all your patients using the unique and incredibly intuitive "Virtual Ward" layout.  Record medications, procedures etc.  Output GP letters and handover lists.  Use the advanced List Merge feature to output lists of audit data, create web tables, or generate customised lists.  After using Client_L for a few days, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.

ChartNote
(App)
ChartNote is an amazing application which allows the doctor to quickly organise, enter, and summarise patient info, ultimately generating printouts of consultation episodes for inclusion in the patient's notes.  A wealth of information can be included, and the program features a very clever system of user-definable "scripts" which allow you to customise the input.  This means that Integrated Care Pathways and departmental protocols can be incorporated.  There is an advanced printing system which is ideal if there is an IR-equipped printer on the ward - just make your notes, beam the Psion at the printer, print the page, and file in the notes!  ChartNote is particularly useful in the outpatient setting.
